Tuesday Morning Review March 6th

Good week for Seattle sports.
Huskies:
Huskies beat the number 24 ranked team, and number 2 ranked team, and still probably have to win the Pac-10 tournament to get to the tournament. I thought that if they they beat two ranked teams, then beat OSU, then beat WSU, that should be enough because that would be 3 ranked teams in a row, but we're 7-9 in conference play thanks to losing to OSU away, California away, Stanford away, WSU at home, and Arizona at home, all games we should win, and all games that if we do win gives us a much better chance to get to the tournament. As it is, we'll have to beat ASU, WSU, then Oregon/Stanford, and then UCLA/USC/Arizona. I think we should only have to win 3 games, but most people are saying that the Huskies are so bad that they need to win out to get to the tourney. 18-12 for us, 18-11 for Stanford, yet we're definetley out and Stanford is definetley in.
Against USC, everyone chipped in for a butt whupping. Appleby had 22 points, Hawes was 13 and 7, Brockman 17 and 9, Pondexter had 9 points, Oliver had 5 assists, and Dentmon didn't have a single turnover. For USC, Nick Young had a great game on 11-15 shooting, and Pruitt and Gibson played well, but USC just doesn't have as much depth as us. As a team we played a good game, we shot 52% and they shot 50%, we beat them in rebounds 28 to 21, and we only had 10 turnovers.
Against UCLA, we were winning by a lot, then blew it big time with 4 minutes to go, then we looked good down the stretch. Again, it was the Big Two with Appleby. Brockman had 20 and 13, while Hawes had 13 15, and Appleby had 13 points and played solid defense on Arron Afflalo when he was guarding him. We outrebounded UCLA 42 to 28, outshot them 41% to 31%, and got more free throws 17 to 7. We looked great for the entire game except for a 5 minute stretch where Pondexter and Hawes looked like freshman and we couldn't get a good shot off or pass the ball normally.
Mariners:
Spring Training has started, and we are already 0-6! That's ok, a bunch of random guys are playing, and Vidro is starting to hit, which is a good sign.
Greg Dobbs, who Philly signed (God Pat Gillick is a dick, signing every Mariner), is doing amazing in ST apparently going something like 7 for 10 with 2 hrs, and another hr in an exhibition game.
Sonics:
Sonics won a few games, and I keep rooting for them to lose. I want to get a good pick because I think we're one defensive presence (Noah, Hawes, Oden) from winning.
